e3 Partners & Zambia

In the last month I have been introduced to e3 Partners through a friend at church. She works for them full time, and talked to the Africa Network at The Stone back in September. e3 focuses on church planting, and building up the local church by equipping pastors and local ministers.

e3 sends trips all over the world, and to my pleasure, they work in Zambia! I am considering a trip with a church here in Austin (Covenant Presbyterian) and one with a church in Alabama. I have no idea if this will come to fruition or not, but I am VERY excited to have Zambia and Africa on my radar again!

Oh, and if you are not familiar with the I am Second campaign, check out this website. It is an extension of e3 that has celebrities share their faith in short videos. One of my favorites is of former Korn singer, Brian Welch. Other celebs include Mike Huckabee, Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, & Stephen Baldwin, and many more!

Mulungu ni wambweno

Mulungu ni wambweno is Nyanja for "God is good all the time". He is good even when we don't like His answers.

It is with a sad, but peaceful heart that I announce to the world (which as we know makes it real) that I will not go to Zambia in 2008.

Sad because I will not see the faces of the boys I have grown relationships with over the last 2 years.....sad because I will not get to have Paul Mulenga sing Feliz Cumpleanos to me on June 16....sad because I will not be a part of the amazing work that FLMI is doing in the lives of thousands of kids in Lusaka....sad because my heart is in Africa.

Peaceful because I know this is what is right for me at this time....peaceful because I feel the Lord asking me to be still and trust Him....peaceful because as much as I LOVE being a part of this ministry I feel zapped and dry right now and if I were to pursue serving I would be doing it in my own strength.

I don't feel like my work in Zambia is done forever. I pray it is not! Who knows? Maybe the Lord will surprise me again in Februrary and say "Ok, no, actually you ARE suppose to be there this summer." - like He did in 2006. I don't put anything past my God. But I do know that for now His answer is NO and I have to accept it.

I love you all and thank you so much for your support of me and this ministry. I hope those of you who have become involved will continue to support or go to minister to these children in person. They are amazing, and the things the Lord teaches you about Himself (and yourself!) while in Africa are priceless.

August already!?!

So the summer has completely slipped by me. I have only floated the river ONCE all summer. Hopefully I'll get down to Leakey while Casey's home on leave later this month. That would make me smile.

I really miss being a student. My boss, not so gently, reminded me that I have a limited number of paid days off during the year. I then reminded him that he said my trip to Africa was NOT part of my vacation...to which he quickly replied "but the 5 days you took off when you got home were!". One could reasonably argue that originally I had planned to be gone an entire month, and he agreed to pay me during that time. I chose to come home early, but needed some recooping time...I think that qualifies as part of the trip! Being a grown up is not all it's cracked up to be.

I am almost done with my newsletter! It is not as indepth as I would have liked, but if I had my way it would be 10 pages! My hope is it sparks enough interest, and stirs hearts enough that people will ask questions. And in those times I can express the amazing love I have for these children, and talk about the AMAZING things my Father is doing in the lives of Zambian orphans.

World Mandate in Pictures

Jenny and Adrienne were there! What a great time worshipping and praying with these beautiful women this weekend :) Best surprise I've had in a long time!

Welcome to the Global Village

Regions around the world were represented with booths that had information on different teams currently serving, and pictures of their cultures.

A wall in the prayer room that focused on injustice, child labor, orphans, AIDS, child soldiers...

World map showing where people at the conference were planning to serve.

Lots of flags near Zambia! Mindy, Jenny and Adrienne are on there, too!
